Emetophobia

Living with a fear of vomiting (Emetophobia) can be exhausting. You may spend a lot
of time thinking about whether food is safe, noticing every sensation in your body, avoiding
situations that feel risky, or planning ahead " just in case." You might avoid certain places, foods, travel, social events, or even people who seem unwell. Perhaps you have been doing these things for so long that they've become part of everyday life.

If this sounds familiar, you're certainly not alone. Many people experience
Emetophobia, and although it can feel overwhelming, it is also one of the anxiety
problems that responds well to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

One of the difficult things about Emetophobia is that the strategies that help you feel
safer in the moment can unintentionally keep the fear going. Avoiding situations, seeking
reassurance, checking your body for signs of illness, or carrying " just in
case" items can reduce anxiety temporarily, but they also prevent you from
discovering that you are more capable than your anxiety suggests.

CBT helps you gently break this cycle. Together, we' ll explore how your fear works, what
keeps it going, and what changes can help you regain your confidence. This
isn't about forcing you into situations before you' re ready or telling you that your fears
don' t matter. Instead, we' ll work at a pace that feels manageable, building new skills
and gradually facing situations that anxiety has been asking you to avoid.
